LeicaSP2 aobs

The Leica LCS confocal software produces TIFF format image files, which are organized into an image database directory.  The TIFF files can be opened with general purpose imaging programs (e.g. Photoshop).  The database information (scanning parameters etc.) are stored in a file with an .LEI extension and have a name which is the same as the directory's name.  Image files should be kept with their respective LEI file and should not be renamed or modified except with the Leica software.  It is best to copy the tiff files to another directory if you want to modify them with 3rd party software such as PhotoShop.  Information (e.g. scale size, objective used, filter settings, etc.) in the LEI file can be read from the .TXT file in the same directory.

Viewing Software for Windows

Installation: click on link - download file to hard rive - click on executable - files will generally expand to c:\temp by default - log on as an administrator (or use runas) - click on setup.exe to install.

SP2 Confocal Manual (Windows help format)

** download executable, log on as a user with administrative rights, run and extract files to c:\temp and then run setup.exe in the c:\temp directory in order to install LCS lit on your computer.  Then go to control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Local Users and Groups -> users -> select desired user and hit enter, select the Profile tab, and at Local path add a drive letter and directory which can be used to hold images (this drive and directory must exist, although you are not forced to use it to store directories).  Once these changes are made user must logoff then back on for the changes to be in effect.
